I was reading the good old Waikato Times yesterday, where an opinion piece caught my attention, written by Richard Swainson, about the Section 59 referendum.

It sums the whole thing up beautifully for me;

"Essentially those in favour of the forthcoming referendum are denying children equal protection under the law, singling out the most vulnerable sector of society as being uniquely deserving of corporal punishment"
